Frequently asked questions...
What will I learn at a Pinned-Up workshop?
Pinned-Up is the best way to learn everything you need to get started with the hottest genre of photography. Starting with the basics - lighting, we then cover posing, shooting, workflow, retouching, marketing, working with models, building your portfolio - we cover it all!
When are you coming to my town?
Soon! In fact, if you think you have a studio suitable, you may be able to host a workshop. If not, drop me a line to register interest and we'll see what we can do.
What do I need to bring?
Camera, standard (50mm) lens or zoom equivalent, paper, pen, laptop with Photoshop CS3 or above. Lunch money. A beer for teacher.....
How in depth is the post-processing? Will I be lost / will I be too advanced and bored?
I cover my entire workflow from capture to archiving. The retouching part is watch, then follow along and it's usually best if you have a base knowledge of Photoshop. Class sizes are kept small so that everyone can receive hands on attention, and since some will be more advanced than others I move quickly but back up for individuals who may be slower.
Will I get time with the models?
Absolutely, in fact, I insist on it. Each registrant receives a set time with the model of their choice (we usually have 3) and the props they want to use. I'm there to offer advice and guidance through your shoot. Each workshop starts with me showing how I shoot and working the models to warm them up.
Can I use the images I shoot for my portfolio / on my website?
All models sign a release, and that release is transferable to each registrant. All I ask is that you respect the workshop environment - if you have a studio and can recreate the lighting, and posing, go right ahead...if you aren't capable of recreating the images we shoot, then it's best not to show that work until you can.
Can I video the workshop?
Sorry - no video recording allowed. Feel free to take as many pictures as you like though,
Do I really have to bring a beer for teacher?
No, although it will put you in teacher's good books.....! ;)
